BODIES WE BORROW
REFRACT invites artists to submit works for the exhibition Bodies We Borrow. We are seeking interdisciplinary contributions that explore the body as a site of identity, transformation, and queer resistance.
The exhibition is open to all artistic mediums, and we encourage both emerging and established artists to apply.
What We’re Looking For
For the exhibition BODIES WE BORROW, we are looking for works that explore the body as a political, personal, and transformative space. We seek contributions that challenge norms surrounding queer identity, bodily autonomy, and belonging — whether through traditional mediums or experimental formats such as sound, video, text, installation, and performance.
REFRACT is an open platform where artistic relevance matters more than an extensive CV. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary works and hybrid formats that challenge conventional modes of presentation, and we encourage emerging, self-taught, and established artists alike to submit their work.
Prepare the Following Before Applying
To complete your submission through the application form, you will need:
Digital Material
Upload presentation images of your works as individual image files (max. 10 MB per file), or include links to video/audio works (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube, or Google Drive).
We ask that works are submitted as separate files rather than as one combined PDF portfolio, in order to make the jurying process more accessible and organized.
There is no need to submit high-resolution print files at this stage. If your work is selected for further consideration or participation in the exhibition, we will later request high-resolution files suitable for print, installation, and promotional use.
File Naming
Please name files with the artist’s name followed by the artwork title.
Examples:
Artwork: artistname_artworktitle.jpg
Portrait photo: artistname_portrait.jpg
Film/video still: artistname_filmstill_artworktitle.jpg
Submitted Works
You may submit up to 10 works in total. Each work should include its own title, medium, and optional description in the application form.
